# Core Contributors

Every Open Source Dharma lineage must have a clear pathway laid out for practitioners, describing what’s expected for them to become **Core Contributors** of the teaching corpus. Think of this as the open source dharma equivalent of a ‘lineage holder.’ Each sangha must determine for itself what this pathway looks like, and what it entails.

With the integration of [Open Badges](https://openbadges.org) this core contributor status is recognized as a formal attainment. **This is the only required attainment in Open Source Dharma**.
